Traditional Health Workers (THW) Doulas

You’ve heard the great news, Oregon Health Plan is paying for Doula services for their Medicaid members. You’ve also heard the daunting news that getting on the state registry isn’t as easy as 1, 2, 3.

But it is!

Our one-on-one support guides you through the course of becoming state-certified as a THW Doula, an Oregon Medicaid Provider, and Credentialed with the Coordinated Care Organizations in your service area in three simple steps:

Step One

There are two pathways to apply for the THW Doula registry. We will explore which option is the best for you.

  • An overview of the process and setting a realistic timeline.

  • Step-by-step guide on how to fill out your application

  • Review of application for accuracy and completion.

  • Preparation of application for you to submit to the state

  • Guidance in obtaining your NPI number

Step Two

Once you have been approved as a THW Doula, you will need to obtain your Oregon Medicaid Provider ID (DMAP) number.

  • Step-by-step guide on how to fill out your application

  • Review of application for accuracy and completion.

  • Preparation of application for you to submit to the state

Step Three

The final step is to become Credentialed with the Coordinated Care Organizations (CCOs) you will work with. Each CCO may have a different application and process; some may not require this step.

  • An overview and step-by-step guide on how to fill out your application

  • Review of application for accuracy and completion.

  • Preparation of application for you to submit to the CCO.

Investment of $375 covers:

  • Three 1:1 1.5-hour meetings for step-by-step guidance

  • Three 1:1 30-minute check-ins to review completed applications

  • Four 1:1 15-minute check-ins throughout the process for Q&A

  • Technical assistance with printer, scanning, and fax

Mentorship

As Doulas, we came to this profession, because there was something that ignited us to support families during this precious time. It could have been from personal experience or just passion for all things pregnancy, birth, and babies. For many Doulas, providing non-judgmental support and having great listening skills come naturally. Knowing how to structure prenatal visits, squeeze a hip, or support clients during birth may need more practice.

Sure, you took training, but how did you leave after your training? Did you wish there was more time spent going over comfort measures? How about practicing prenatal and/or postpartum visits? Or, those important things like client agreements, intake forms, policies, and procedures to help you have a great start on your business?

Doulas and Company in partnership with Doula Training Center is here to support you through this journey too! We’ve learned a lot about what works and what doesn’t. We’ve implemented systems in place that streamline our work and keep the uniqueness for each client we serve. We’d love to help you get there too!
